construction and logistics

Grupo TCO website by Gen Design Studio

Grupo TCO is a business group that operates mainly in construction and transportation while also providing equipment rentals.

The new website translates the brand values to a digital experience structured on strong and consistent layouts where the geometric character enhances order and hierarchy perception. The rational approach eases the content consumption either on a visual and navigational level.

a circumnavigation voyage and a number of admirable creatures

DIO03563_v02.jpg

It’s almost tradition now, that during the holidays people gather to develop something memorable in the season’s spirit. The project usually involves a little contribution from everybody, culminating in an object to be kept as a souvenir. And this year was no exception.

The team ended up developing a bestiary, in which the employees are depicted as beasts. The project combines graphic design, photography, illustration and copywriting. The team made a form and, based on each employee’s answers, along with his or her characteristics, chose a beast for each person. Through this interaction, everyone was involved in the project, even unknowingly—the concept of the project was kept secret till the very last moment.

DIO03567.jpg

Individual pictures were taken and the beasts were drawn on them. The copy was written as if the book were an expedition journal, kept by the company’s directors during an expedition around the globe: one of them writing the story, the other one drawing the beasts. These are displayed by seniority and distributed according to the year each person started at the company. Each chapter is named as year of expedition.

Designers, Developers & Managers alike made their own version of a Christmas gift. A version which involved brainstorming and unconstrained exercise of creativity.

1º dezembro

1º Dezembro poster by Gen Design Studio

1º Dezembro Récita poster for Associação Académica da Universidade do Minho (AAUM), 2012

* Philip is remembered for his patronage of the arts—portrayed multiple times by the famous Diego Velázquez.

The 1st of December is a symbol of Portuguese independence gained in 1640 after 60 years of rule by the the king Philip IV of Spain*.

The story says that the students of Braga’s College of St. Paul were the first to cheer for king Phillip passing through the streets of Braga on his way out. Celebrating the restoration of independence, they started a tradition which observed every year, remains alive.

performing arts’ vibrant personality

LAPA identity by Gen Design Studio

LAPA, LOYAC Academy of Performing Arts is an institution that empowers the talented youth of Kuwait to develop their skills and nurture their passion through programs in the fields of theatre, dance, music and fine arts.

Putting the emphasis on the name of the institution we created a distinct lettermark using a unique lettering style—a high contrast stencil type with a slightly ornate flare—a simple and focused way to make the logo memorable.

LAPA

the four “mascots”

The logo is accompanied by a set of four icons (colour coded), purpose of which is to create a certain sense of ownership for the participants of each program. They are simplified, nearly abstract geometrical symbols representing each of these fields of art.

The identity applied to various supports reflects LAPA’s vibrant and rich personality by presenting it as a multifaceted and unified family that embraces its versatility.

The overall effect is a happy energy that incites constant action.
